INTRODUCTORY GLASSBLOWING WORKSHOP

The Martell Corporate Foundation opens the doors to its Glass Workshop for a “baptism by fire” with master glassblowers. This half-day introductory session will allow you to create your first personalized pieces in blown glass and solid glass (2 per person).

Workshop Objectives:

– Explore the workshop and its tools: furnaces, glass rods, etc.

– Learn the basics of glassmaking techniques

– Shape and blow simple forms using a glass rod

Safety Guidelines:

– Wear flat, closed-toe shoes (safety overshoes provided)

– Wear cotton clothing with a long-sleeved top

– Bring a water bottle

– Tie back your hair

2 Wednesdays per month from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Valentin Rizzo is a passionate glass artisan specializing in stained glass and glassblowing. Trained at Cerfav (European Center for Research and Training in Glass Arts) and under Jean-Pierre Bellion, he has developed expertise ranging from production to research and design work for designers, notably at Fluid in Brittany.
Valentin has collaborated with renowned artists and won third place in the national Prix Avenir Métiers d’art competition (organized by INMA) with his piece “Instant suspendu.” At the same time, he is also an international highline athlete (a balancing sport involving walking on a slackline over a void), a discipline he has been practicing for about ten years.

Gaëtan Oheix is a glass artisan. Although his career path initially took a scientific turn—with studies at ENTPE and a master’s thesis on river restoration—Gaëtan has been passionate about glassblowing since childhood. After a formative experience at Jeremy Maxwell Wintrebert’s studio, he decided to change careers and earned a CAP (Certificate of Professional Competence) in glass and crystal art, specializing in rod blowing, through a program jointly offered by the Bayel Glass Studio and CERFAV. There, he acquired a solid technical and artistic foundation, exploring various methods of working with glass. He is currently continuing his artistic development, having completed the “Glass Artist” training program, where he carried out several projects that demonstrate his creativity and mastery of glassworking techniques.
