The Project

The approach of Marlon Bagnou-Beido and Soufyane El Koraichi reflects an interest in renewing object typologies in relation to issues of use, energy consumption, and production methods.

For this residency, the duo proposes to continue their material-focused research by exploring the qualities of a local material and the outcomes of its exploitation.
Their project, Fragmenta, focuses on the waste generated from working with dimension stone, specifically from the Thénac quarry in the Charente region. These fragments, often relegated to backfill, are here revalorized through a process of reconstruction.
Sorted by typology, they are combined to reveal their constructive and aesthetic qualities. Although non-standardized, these pieces can be systematized and find architectural or furniture applications.

With the kind support of Bertrand Arcadias, Carrières de Thénac – Saintonge.

Marlon Bagnou-Beido and Soufyane El Koraichi are two designers trained at ENSCI – Les Ateliers and based in La Courneuve.
